Resolving disputes through an independent arbitrator

Arbitration

What is arbitration?

Arbitration is a private dispute resolution process where an independent arbitrator hears evidence from both parties and makes a binding decision. This approach offers a faster and more confidential alternative to court litigation, making it a suitable option for parties who find it hard to agree, yet don’t want the formality of a courtroom.

Who may choose arbitration?

Arbitration is effective to settle disputes between:

  • Businesses and individuals
  • Businesses and consumers
  • Employers and employees

What cases are best suited to arbitration?

Arbitration works well for disputes that involve confidential matters, cross-border or multi-jurisdictional issues, or those centred on finances and property concerns.

International Arbitration

When your dispute is cross jurisdictional, it can be highly complex to resolve. In this instance, involves different countries, international arbitration is a good method of resolution. It avoids having to navigate multiple legal systems and instead allows you to have an independent arbitrator hear your case and resolve it outside of court by making a binding decision.

This is particularly useful in business, trade or investment disagreements as you can settle conflicts across jurisdictions.
